According to Lee Baucom, many of the people he has spoken to were shocked when they received divorce papers. In a sense, that shock is no different from being in a car accident.  Do you get in your car expecting to be in a collision?  In a similar way, you don’t exchange marriage vows with the expectation that you will suddenly need the services of a divorce lawyer.

As you make use of safe driving measures to mitigate, or even prevent car accidents, you can also do the same with your marriage.  Regardless of the distractions that you think must take priority in your marriage, you can easily shut them all out.  You may even find that your spouse is more than agreeable to the changes you want to make.
